President

The President is responsible for all operations of the community. The President is an enthusiastic, energetic, responsive individual who is good at solving problems and resolving disputes, is gracious, and a good listener.

With experience in human resources, financial management and technical communications, the President brings a wide range of skills to the position. A proven aptitude for public speaking is important as the President represents the local community at public events include the annual conference. The President has served on other Executive positions.

The President is expected to:

  • Chair Executive meetings
  • Assign duties to other Executive members
  • Make program suggestions
  • Submit community activity reports to the STC Director-Sponsor
  • Provide advice and support for other Executive members
  • Liase with other professional associations
  • Intervene or mediate disputes when necessary
  • Cast a deciding vote at meetings if it is required

Planning for the next Executive year takes place at a leadership workshop, which typically takes place over the summer, when the President leads the Executive in establishing goals for the upcoming year.

The current STC Toronto President is Andrew Brooke.
